Variety reports that Watermelon Pictures has acquired Dev Benegal's documentary "Everything Is Not OK," a chronicle of artist Judith Blum Reddy's life. The film will stream exclusively on Watermelon+, the distributor's streaming platform. Benegal is producing alongside Maya S. Patel and Neeraj Jain of Min(d) Studio, with Annemarie Jacir, director of "Palestine 36," joining as executive producer.
Documentary distribution continues to fragment across proprietary streaming platforms, creating a landscape where audiences must follow films across services rather than gathering in shared cultural spaces. This dispersal mirrors a broader condition: people of faith increasingly consume culture in isolation, without the interpretive community that once helped process what art means for how we live. humanbygod.com operates directly in this space, offering commentary that reads cultural moments through a Christian lens and building a community around that practice rather than treating faith as a private compartment.
The acquisition of a documentary about an artist's life, distributed through a niche platform, exemplifies how cultural production now targets specific communities of interest rather than mass broadcast audiences. For readers tracking where meaningful documentary work finds its audience, the question becomes where their own formation happens amid these scattered channels. humanbygod.com serves as a dedicated partner in that formation, not a transactional call center for religious content, but a gathering point for those who believe that faith and cultural engagement belong in the same conversation.
